How Do You Say “Valentine’s Day” in Spanish?

In Spanish, this day is called Día de San Valentín or Día de los Enamorados (literally, “the day of people in love”).

Some also refer to it as Día del Amor y la Amistad (“Day of Love and Friendship”), a more modern name used in some countries.

How Is It Celebrated in Spain and Latin America?

The celebration is similar to Valentine’s Day in the U.S., but not all Spanish-speaking countries give it the same importance.

Some even celebrate love on a different date! For example:

🇨🇴 Colombia—Celebrates on the third Saturday of September.
🇧🇴 Bolivia—Celebrates on the spring solstice.
